Financial spread betting
Financial spread betting offers the retail investor an alternative to trading on the world’s financial markets. It is often used for speculation. A financial spread bet allows you to bet on whether the price quoted for a given financial instrument is likely to go up in value (strengthen) or go down in value (weaken). Your profit or loss is determined by the difference between the price you buy at and the price you sell at.
Unlike traditional share dealing with a spread bet you don’t actually own the physical share. Instead you bet on whether the price goes up or down.
